Immigration minister Phil Woolas, who recently criticised lawyers for helping asylum seekers claim justice, now wants a restrictive ‘revision’ of the international convention on refugees.

The Archbishop of York has joined other church leaders and criticised recent comments by Government minister Phil Woolas. Dr John Sentamu said recent comments by Mr Woolas were wrong.

Disestablishment would make the Church of England more Christian, a national newspaper has said. The comments came in an editorial in the Times newspaper.
