The international Day of Prayer for Peace on 21 September is part of a growing movement in opposition to religiously-sanctioned violence.

Or any kind of officially-sanctioned violence, really.

But there is also a recognition that praying and working for change is no easy matter. It involves deep conviction, tough thinking, demanding faith and hopeful action. There's no room for smugness or complacency.
