Slotting in religion

In the debate about Thought for the Day, there's a difference between creating space for spirituality ('spirited takes' on life, you might say) and stranded or sealed "religious broadcasting".

I don't see why TFTD should be confined to the latter, and make that case here: Losing our (radio) religion?

Also related is Why we need to rid ourselves of the 'god of the slots', which I had earlier (unhelpfully) entitled Why we need to rid ourselves of 'God slots' . There's a difference.
